I've been trying GP ssaddles on Paco without success, even had some posh makes like Prestige but although that one fitted him well, it felt like a lump of wood under my @rse Yesterday I got into a surreal conversation about having a Stubben made to measure but then I woke up and thought that 2000 to 3000€ would buy me a horse!!!!! And anyway, P is a veteran and may well retire in the next five years .... So (stop waffling on Rac) I flirted with a Kent and Masters leather changeable gullet saddle but emailed the company for advice and they were not helpful. So FINALLY I have decided that a CHEAP synthetic, changeable gullet saddle is the way forward and think the Thorowgood T4 high-wither is the one and am currently watching one on ebay (my OH will be in the UK next week, handy for bringing it back.) I did read the other thread about synthetics but please peeps, any input welcome - and fast please!!!!!

I love my T6 dressage, it has a leather seat and straps and is really comfortable for both me and the horse, plus its fully changeable and comes with fish which are inserts to make it a tighter fit if needed. A good saddle to have and even if it sits int he tack room unused its a keeper as being adjustable it would be suitable for most horses. The only thing about synthetic saddles is that Im never ever inclined to use them without a numnah or pad of some description. Whereas leather ones- if they fit well I would, but its a small point.

mine might be the T8. We have a T4 pony saddle for Toudle- it moves around on his back a bit but I think that is his shape and lack of wither- being a typical fat and rolly pony. But I got the longer flaps to accommodate my leg but a shorter seat for his little rider and all in all it works well. When we showed him recently we used a leather saddle without a numnah (its not a bad fit) and he had pressure bumps on his back- something he doesnt get with his TG.

I lost the ebay one, not sad as it went to £250 and I might as well spend the little extra and get new and then the OH can't complain that it 'stinks out' his posh car I've now done a bit more research and think you must have the T8 Brig if it's leather. I think I'm sticking with the T4 as I may as well embrace the easycare synthetic ethos all the way! The teenager tells me that the 'suede' brushes up beautifully too.

Just bought the T8 high wither for Dude as he is changing shape and I am really pleased with it. When I was looking I found the T4's (high wither) went for silly money hence I ended up with the T8 but they are based on the same tree with wool flocking so if you can get one cheap enough it's a good saddle. Looking out for one myself now for Noble.
