It's too hot for anything other than keeping the boys ticking over. We ride in the evening when it's cooler and last night had such fun - we pottered around doing some serious hillwalking, a bit of trotting but no canter as the ground is too hard and then rewarded ourselves with a stop at the cherry tree. It's by the side of the road and no one seems to own it (at least no one I know looks after it) and people tend to help themselves. So, high up on horseback we could reach all the cherries that other people can't and we gorged ourselves. They were very good. Paco had some too but then realised there was long dryish grass under the tree so put his head down instead. The swifts were wheeling overhead and the landscape had become 3D in the evening light (as opposed to the flat light of midday) and was very beautiful. Pottered on home and hosed the boys all over and felt all was well with the world.

Sounds like a lovely evening. Was it washed down later with a small glass of vino?

Sounds like a lovely evening. Was it washed down later with a small glass of vino? Certainly was! After a dip in the pool, of course!
