It was his first show on Saturday and he didn't disappoint. What a star that pony is. first the tack and turnout, as he isnt a registered Dartmoor we trimmed and plaited him and he looked fantastic, so shiny and polished, I spruced up and wore a serious showing suit so we did T and T as lead rein. We won- yipee! so all the hard work paid off. Then lead rein, again a faultless performance by Toudle with his rider O being told by the judge to keep her hands down (she has an old fashioned hunting seat and is finding independance very difficult!!) We finished second. Yipee.
Then he was going so well and tbh I hadnt realised he wasnt entered in the first ridden (Os mum had done the schedule)so she did first ridden as well and he was amazing despite the heavens opening and O crying because it was raining and he moved his bum into the rain! So he got fifth out of a big class so was well chuffed with that!
Then judges choice and best condition. Two more blues but I think we were robbed in the best condition as the winner was lame. All in all he performed brilliantly so I was over the moon.
I then went on to show Frank in the M and M but as I was warming him up (settling him down as he is sharp!) I saw the woman who had sold him at the auction, I went to chat to her but as she had lied at the auction as to ownership she was really cagey as she obviously could remember telling me she was selling him on behalf of someone else but I knew different.......!!! Anyhow then she told me she was judging my class- TBH I was inclined to load him up and go home as she had sold him as a problem and hadn't ever got on with him so couldn't see her judging him favourably and I was right, despite him doing a faultless show and looking fantastic we came second last out of six, so a rosette but only just! She said he lacked muscle behind (which is true) but at least he was sound which the winner clearly wasn't. ho hum- but that is showing so not too glum! Will do some pics asap.
Ha ha- one judge commented that Toudles tail plait was the best in show- at least I did something right. lol!
