On Sunday me and mum went to a showjumping competition at our riding school, and we both shared the same horse (S)a 15.2hh bay cob who is a true riding school horse - hes got good paces and a neat jump, he will always try and take the easy option but will always look after you! As it was mum's very first competition the RI suggested that S would be a good choice and although I haven't ridden him in a year i decided that it would be as handy to just share him with her!
The jumping was moved indoors due to the wet weather and it kicked off with the crosspole class which mum entered to get her going. She navigated her way round the course no bother and won a bag of 10p mixups and her first rosette! She was absolutely bricking it but said afterwards she didnt know what she had been worrying about!
She then gave the practice jump a go for the next class (45cm) and decided to give it a go. Another accomplishment on Sunday was that it was her first time jumping spreads and she got on great with another steady clear round! As luck would have it, she also drew first prize which was a riding whip, a leadrope and a bag of horse treats!
I then hopped on and entered for the 65cm class. Pootled up to the outdoor to hop over the practice jump a few times - ran out on me once, so clamped the legs on when i came round again lol!
Got a double clear round, he jumped really well, i thoroughly enjoyed it - was very pleased that i had such a good round and didnt give him an opportunity to take the hand out of me
Our neighbours/friends came down to watch, it was a great wee afternoon out, there was a good crowd out and a good bit of craic! really proud of mum as well, good on her!
Unfortunately no pics!
