Seeing as we all have our own genius ideas, this forum seemed a good place to share them, however strange the may be!
Il start!
If you put mollasses or oils in feed from big tubs, and find that you spill a lot down the side of the tub when pouring, decant it into a cleaned out fairy liquid bottle, using a funnel, and simply squirt a drizzle into feed! it saves SO much wastage, and prevents big uneven globs in feed! xx

buy a bar of glycerine saddle soap- melt it down and add an equal quantity of milk then pour it into a container like a large yogurt pot. Cheap as chips and really good soap- puts a lovely shine on tack for shows. (tip stolen from one of the Olivers)

Baby oil on tails helps keep the hairs strong and prevents breaks. Also rub it into the horses sheath after cleaning- keeps it cleaner for much longer (but I dont think I would do this if the horse was on shavings so if anyone else does let me know if there are problems with the shavings sticking to it!) brig

if your horse is ok with spray cans instead of using horse show shine etc get the dog velvet coat its 1/4 the price and gives a all over shine without leaving marks where its unevenly sprayed

I like Haffy's tips .... Too late for me though, so here are some I learned when I was doing my guide training:
If you find yourself out on an all-day ride and there is a piece of tack rubbing, wrap it in the silver foil (aluminium) that your sandwiches were in. Smooth it out, and wrap it round, say, a girth that is causing sores, and it will get you back home without further injury (and may even promote healing). True.
Another long distance thing: If you are out for the day and stop for lunch with hot horses and the weather is cool, by all means take off their saddles (loosening the girth progressively) but leave the saddlecoth in place as it keeps the back/kidneys warm and prevents chills.
Long distance is cool!
