I have got a XC lesson booked for tomorrow in advance of Sunday's hunter trial, this will be the first time Brave has jumped in the gag... However we currently have gusts of 60-80mph and horizontal rain, and the forecast is the same for tomorrow...! And the XC course in up a hill in Perthshire!!! As I said I must be mad or stupid PS wimped out of doing the 75cm class and am only doing the 60cm on Sunday too.

I like BD's quote in her signature - There comes a point in every rider's life when they have to sit back and wonder, am I nuts? ;D It's been really windy here too, though not as bad as 80mph. I've been suprised by how unfazed the horses have been though. Good luck with tomorrow and Sunday

Woohoo! That sounds fun I'm sure you'll be just fine and if you don't want to jump anything, you don't have to. Just remember that it's supposed to be enjoyable!

The weather has been dreadful here too; gale force winds overnight and this morning. Fallen trees, debris on the road, haylage wrappings flying about. Seems to have dropped a bit now but still not good, hope its better tomorrow.

as long at it is still on, I jumped Brave in the gag in the school on Wednesday and he threw one hissy fit, as we turned a corner toward the jump and I took a feel down the rein (not even a pull) to balance him and he threw his head right up waving it about and bunny hopped to a stop... not sure if it is the bit or general annoyance or something else. he does this with his normal bit every so often and he teeth are not the problem unless there is something going on thats not visible...
Not sure if its the right choice taking him in a gag or not but I also know he will go hell for leather around the course if I dont! I guess we try it and if it doesnt work next time we try something else...

He is a sensitive soul! Not sure if it's possible in canter but I sometimes use martingale neck strap to 'check' Pete. He slows to the pressure on his neck.
