Had a bit of a break through with Brave last night when he decided to start carrying himself, just in time for our dressage competition today... and Wow what a difference. We were in 2 Novice tests - the first one we won with a score of 68.9% and we got our first ever 9!!! The 9 was for our halt at the end which (by luck) was almost totally square. even g a little trophy. The second test didn't go quite as well but because I hadn't had time to learn it I had enlisted a caller for the first time in months. I think this and the fact that I wast 100% confident about where we were going and transitions etc meant that I did not ride is as well as the 1st. still I got 65.82% still a very respectable score and came third (out of 3) But very happy and proud of the ginger boy, I had some lovely comments from people watching about Brave too.

Just seen this- he is doing super! Cant remember, have you done a ODE Fi? If not he is certainly ready.

Just seen this- he is doing super! Cant remember, have you done a ODE Fi? If not he is certainly ready. he may well be but I'm not sure I am... I'm not confidently jumping big enough, at the moment I am only taking him around 60-70cm XC... I need to be confident over bigger jumps before a ODE

Do they have unaffiliated ODE near you? Its not about the height, its just having a go at the three disciplines on one day, the heights are usually tiny in the novice unaffiliated. I did about four unaffiliated with Brigadier and a pre novice affiliated, at which point I realised he would never be brave enough to do XC but strangely enough it brought his dressage on amazingly- I think he thought he better excel at one of the disciplines or I would carry on entering him for XC. We affiliated dressage soon after. Give it a go. xx
