So yesterday marked our return to the dressage arena for our second ever test - the last one was over two years ago - wow, where did that go?
A number of things happened during the week which I felt was trying to warn me not to do it - I had learned the wrong test until Thursday, the horsebox was reversed into by a tractor, trailer that stepped ins brakes were frozen...it went on.
But anyway yesterday, go we did despite the torrential downpour going on. Arrived at the venue and it was absolutely tipping down. So we huddled in the trailer hoping for a break in weather which eventually it did with 10 minutes until my test! So we jumped out, had a very quick warm up (it was only walk trot test) and in we went.
Eddie behaved brilliantly. With the recent weather we've not had a decent surface to school on so preparation has been minimal and I was slightly expecting a bit of a disaster. But she didn't let me down and despite a small insident of side stepping out the arena - too much inside leg from me in a corner!! - she was calm, collected and responsive. We finished with 58.5% - mainly 6's, two 7's two 5's and two penalties for leaving the arena. Downward transitions are our weakness still but they are getting better and better with our new instructor. So hopefully we can nail them before the next test and see a big improvement.
Unfortunately not placed but I was still really pleased with ourselves. It gives us a focus point to build up from at least. Only have a couple of pics outside the arena but frind videoed it which I will put up when I get it.
