It's endurance season again and i got it wrong it again, because of where todays' ride was based and as i couldn't access the route map i assumed they wouldn't come up to us. Right like that was going to happen plus that means we've seen other horses whilst hacking twice in last couple of weeks As soon as we got to top of lane we met some, great, however we went the long way round the common to avoid them and then into country park, as never use those tracks, and being clever i thought we could nip out of country park via a 'short cut' and go back on the parallel path to what they were using...sorted! Well until my stupid doofus of a idiotic pony got all unecessary and over excited on seeing the horses agin as we crossed their path (literally) to go back over the common. Launched himself in air, whilst stood on the edge of a rut on the 'short cut' and landed flat on his face fortuntaly i clung round his neck and managed to stay onboard but why i have managed to obtain such a doofus, i mean really Harry wasn't the slightest bit bothered by their presence. Heavens knows what they must have thought! Cue him then, on standing back up, turning into fire breathing beastie, and growing at least another hand, so i ended up getting off (before i fell off) and leading getting dragged about by him and we wound up going back the way we came as i can only imagine the fun i'd have had if he's spotted the others racing along the otherside of the common. Then naturally the heavens opened and ended up soaked. Tell me again why do i bother? I'm sure it's meant to be fun

Poor old you - it seems that this morning must have been a silly ponio morning because my silly old moo was a monkey too! To her credit, she did walk almost straight into the stream (which she normally kicks up a fuss about...apparently running water is scary :roll eyes:) and was very good for me on the way home after our 'incident' but in the run up she was a right little rascal! Somehow I seem to have a much stickier bum these days since I have ditched the stirrups (that would sound quite a weird thing to say if you lot weren't horsey!!!) and managed not to fall off at all, but by gum, it was a wee bit eventful this morning! I suppose I should really tell you what happened... Faith is a weird pony. She can be ridden regularly and be fine, or she can be left for months on end and then be ridden and still be fine. The weird bit is when she is 'coming back into work' - she will be a superstar for the first ride and then gets loopier as time goes on (that is, until she settles back down and remembers that there is a big old world out there that we're missing!). Anywho, today was ride number 5 and she had decided to be a dumbo. We spent 20 minutes leaving the yard and walking down the first field (should take about 5 mins but she was in a zig-zaggy mood ) and then had a bit of an argument about whether to go 'out' (i.e. around another field) or to carry on around this field and head home...since it had taken 20 minutes of zig-zagging to get there we WERE going out a bit further! She walked quite nicely for a while, had a minor "ooh I'm not sure if I dare" moment at the entrance to the stream but then went straight in after a promise of grass if she did so, and then she offered to go up the bank (which she has been spooking at for the past 2 rides since the farmer put some flappy tape on a wire fence at the top). Naturally I took her up on the offer and off we went up the bank...she had a good look for the flappy green tape and once it was deemed 'safe' onward we went...for about 10 seconds...then she'd obviously decided that successfully facing 2 scary things in such a short time was enough and that she couldn't possibly face the narrow winding track that leads through the woods and back across the stream at the other end...anyway, after a bit of an "OH MY GOD, RUN AWAY" moment, she calmed down enough to stand still for a few seconds...only for me to realise that the clip on my rein had snapped and I had no control over my ponio (who had conveniently decided that now was a good time to continue spooking!) After a split-second panic thinking that Faith was going to bolt off with me down a narrow, bendy, slippery hill with only one rein, she stopped and stood stock still for me to jump off and fashion her reins into some sort of make-shift lead rein and calmly turn her round and pretend that I wasn't panicking about being squished . Thankfully my ponio is a superstar on the ground and walked beautifully back down the bank, through the stream and back across the fields towards home. Unfortunately she has somehow sussed how to undo the remaining clip on the end of her rein and kept letting herself loose! Again, thankfully, she didn't wander off and let me clip her back on again. After a much-longer-than-it-looks walk home, it is safe to say that Faith now has some new, bigger, stronger, less easily opened clips attached to her reins!!! Sorry for hijacking your post Haf, just wanted to show you were not alone in the silliness this morning!!!

LOL Haff! And Spotti! I must admit that meeting other horses while out on my own is something I dread - particularly the ones that canter up behind you and then expect to race past without your horse joining in the charge. As if ....

I dunno about you Haf but when faith has 'moments', apart from the initial OMG, generally her antics don't phase me...if I was on any other horse I think I'd poop my pants! But not on faith...must have something to do with all that bonding stuff we did when she wasn't rideable
