Hello all!
Zara has convinced me that I should join The Paddocks and share my globe-trotting horsey adventures (though it's usually not as exciting as it sounds!!). I live in Hong Kong having moved here 18 months ago for a job offer that I couldn't refuse....naturally I hated the job and got a new one 6 months ago, live and learn and all that
More importantly, here's an intro to the equine loves-of-my-life... First up, here's my HK loan horse, a rising 10yo ex-racer called Classabove, or Classy for short:
At an in-house show, where we won the Prelim dressage and Classy jumped his first ever SJ courses (at the giddy heights of 30cm and 50cm, bless!):
I love his expression in this one, it was the first time jumping really 'clicked' and he seemed to love the clapping from the crowd - he's such a diva!
However my heart really lies in Southern Spain, where my OH and I have three PREs. There's my horse-in-a-million, rising 8yo Pocholo. We bought P almost three years ago on a riding holiday (he was a stallion used on the dressage lessons). I took him to the UK where we had some fun doing dressage:
And he learnt to jump:
But he failed the piroplasmosis blood test and couldn't come with me to Hong Kong (he also went lame with navicular and was rehabbed at Rockley around the same time), so eventually we sent him back to Spain on working livery. It's a great excuse to spend all our holidays down there:
P on bootcamp back at our dressage trainer's yard three weeks ago:
Then there's my OH's PRE, who is rising 6. He's a lovely horse to ride and quite talented, but one of those that seems to get himself in trouble and have a bit too much time off!!
Finally there's our rising 5yo mare, who was a bit of an impulse buy just over a year ago. She was broken-in last year and is now on maternity leave, hopefully we'll have a lovely foal in May! Here she is in January looking fairly preggers (I've re-sized the pic but it still looks huge on my laptop, hopefully it's smaller for anyone else reading this!):
So that's me!! I look forwards to getting to know you all and learning lots through this forum, it seems like a very friendly place!!
