Took P out for a lovely hack in the sunshine yesterday but the countryside was alive with horse-eating monsters! First we passed some guys clipping vines who, just as we passed them, decided to set fire to the undergrowth which went up with a roar. Poor Paco set off like a rocket! Then we had to pass between a farmer clipping vines with electric clippers and another cutting up a fallen tree with a chain saw. P didn't know which was worse .... he wanted to run away but the new positive me forced him through. Then a jogger leapt out of the bushes - I thought the poor horse was going to drop down dead with terror at that point And then, the icing on the cake ... going through the woods he and the dog smelt wild pig at the same time .... but he was by then such a quivering jelly he let me push him on through. He was actually shuddering! What a wally!

It sounds like your lovely hack was anything but today . Glad you both survived it. It should do wonders for helping towards bombproofing anyway .

Well I enjoyed it anyway! It's a standing joke here, Toomany, that Paco, being half Barb 'war horse' is the scarediest horse in the entire universe!!!

Crikey I think I would have been a nervous wreck after that lot never mind the horse. Well done for staying calm and pushing him on, that must have been some very positive riding!

Hee Hee, Fire would never go in another piece of woodland ever again if he thought there was wild pigs in it! He's great with chain saws and fires though...They are building a solar farm out the back of ours and its the busiest place I've ever seen, with men and machinery whats Fire do though...not bat an eye lid and spook at the grass! Well done you guys for getting past it Its not easy when they turn to jelly on you!

hell yeah - doesnt it amaze you though how few people have sense when it comes to horses - like turning lawn mowers on just as you go past, or slamming car doors - it used to really worry me and I would try to avoid it but then I figured there are scary things everywhere so you just have to get on with it - Mariah is the biggest tit going...the other day we were trotting up a hill and she did a full spin at a road sign and sped off back down the road - (cue me yelling obsenities at her (in the most loving of senses and whilst giggling)- why is it there is always someone the other side of the hedge when this happens?!)
But it sounds like you met some pretty extra scary stuff - wild pigs have got to be a top level monster...
