I have a Standardbred named Ben who i am currently trying to train out of pacing with alot of help from friends, a fat little welsh cob called Jack and my new addition, Irish Thoroughbred Tom. I've been looking for a forum like this for a while as most of my friends dont like talking about horsey things Ive loved reading all the posts, i especially love the ones with photos ;D So hello everyone!

Hi there! Yup, we all want photos .... Do you keep your horses at home? And what do you do with them? Have you got any big horsey ambitions? We're a mixed bunch here, do all sorts with all sorts of nags (although I think there are a fair few Welshies!) But we do like a laugh! Or if we can't laugh we try to keep up morale when we're struggling through mud and illness and lack of cash (fairly normal in the horsey world, huh?)

Thanks everyone. Ben, Jack and Tommy are kept 2 miles down the road at a nearby farm. Its very DIY, just a field basically. All three of my horses are just happy hackers, I have no big ambitions, mainly because i just have no time! I enjoy schooling them and Ben the ex pacer is never a dull ride Tell me about it! Mud, illness, lack of cash - I got my first job a few weeks ago, and in between sorting out an absess, needing new tack and busting a body protector i have absolutely no cash to show for the work i do! Wouldnt have it any other way though How about you? What horses do you own? Ambitions?

Hey, it's great to hear more from you . We have a similar set up all 6 are out in the field 24/7/365 . I'm getting to know about the mud, illness and lack of cash as well. My plans personally are to get my lovely mare showing again and possibly eventing, get my three rescues ridden and two of them sold on to new homes and hopefully rescue and rehab a few more. Like I said I've got 6 eeek three rescue boy and three lovely mares - 2 new forests, one connemara, a welsh sec a, a dartmoor cross and a tb x hunter. I was a student but am on gap year to earn some pennies and possibly return to my studies, I work in maccy dees but am job hunting atm . I also have a slightly stoopid dog - he's a husky x lab and he's so beautiful he had to be a bit dim!!!

Yes mine are exactly the same, they live out every day of the year. One of mine had to spend time in a stable when he had his absess and he hated it. They all love being outside Wow, 6 horses! You must be very poor lol. Thats amazing that you have rescued three horses, it must be a wonderful thing to see them as they rehabilitate and regain trust. I have a labrador that sounds just like your dog - beautiful but dim. As well as the horses and the dog i keep reptiles and rodents. It was nice to hear more about you good luck with the job hunting

Hi and welcome to the forum. Your horses are lovely. Im envious about people who have horses that like to live out, after two hours both my Tbs are pacing the fence saying "Bring me in"! If I ignore them then one of them then starts to chase the others until I give in! Consequently I muck out constantly! The two ponies would live out but then they'd eat all the grass and be even fatter so my bed is made so to speak!
