Our 'local' had a little fun haloween jumping comp on Saturday. Me and my friend had decided to go if the weather was good. Sat morning was bright sunshine so we said we'd do it. By the time it got to the afternoon the coldest wind, rain and even little snow flurries had kicked in! We were running an hour behind schedule but decided to throw caution to the wind and go anyway - even to give the horses a little jolly. No dress code so were able to go in what we were wearing.
Arrived and they hadn't even started my class (60cm) so entered and had plenty of time to warm up (much needed!)
Had my usual pre jumping nerves - physically shaking and felt sick!
All too soon we were called. Once again Eddie didn't let me down and popped me safely round. And so the jump off. We don't normally come anywhere as I go for slow, steady and safe! Watched a few of the super nippy ponies and then my turn. I braved a tight turn which paid off by Eddie superstar not faltering. Then disaster, I forgot where the last fence was! This meant a long detour round the ring then a mad gallop for the last (which was originally an easy line from the previous fence!)
We were still quick and ended up a well placed third out of 19 original starters. Was so pleased. Love my Eddie so much, she really looked after me and could have done it with her eyes closed.
Had contemplated braving the 75cm but Eddie felt tired as she's not at peak fitness and it was bloomin freezing so we ended on a good note, grinning from ear to ear
