Just wondering! I know its gross! Since Ferns party with the fence, she has got a few little knicks and cuts on her legs. Personally I like to clean them all up with some antiseptic and leave them scabbed. I have had lots of people with different views, some say pick all the scabs off and clean, some say leave them completly, some say only do it if they look infected.....what do you do?

if i'm grooming and catch a dry one i love peeling it off! but by that time they aren't attached to the skin anyway. i tend to soak scabs off if i need to but usually just ignore them

I try not to pick at them, however if there is an infection underneath I will try to lift them of gently and clean it, if not then i tend to leave them until they come of on their own

aggreed with ceej, but i like to keep them clean, im a bit crazy and get out hibiscrub, wound powder, sudocrem and/ or petroleum jelly for everything! but wounds MUST be sorted, i did my work experience at the vets where it was touch and go whether this lovely cob would die or not, she had an infection fron a nail in her foot that spread up her leg because the owner hadnt bothered cleaning it properly, loads of fluids were pumped through her leg and it was touch and go wether or not they had managed to get the infection out, it was fascinating to watch but would have saved a lot of pain, worry and money if it had ben sorted properly in the first place! suppose thats why ive always been paranoid about small scratches x

No, never, natures plasters! Put cream on to soften but you should never pick them off although I know the temptation is overwhelming! Zx
