I've just bought a daisy rein for Magic to try and prevent him putting his head down and jolting N to his mane - he's too strong and knows how to evade work. Have any of you used these before? Any tips? When I bought them the lady in the tack shop said I should keep him on lead rein until he gets used to them.

They are quite common in riding schools for ponies who want to eat all the time! I personally havent used one but as long as the pony gets used to it then it should be fine.

I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it DB as i keep considering one for Murph to help with his bucking as i've read some people use them for this purpose too.
I use a full nose nosenet with him out hacking as he's terrible for trying to eat out hacking (mainly head height stuff)

I've seen them on RS ponies too - that and a crupper so basically strapped from ears to tail... I believe they are fine once they are used to them and basically give up trying.
