Anyone ever used it? Finding the bedding I use really heavy lately. Can't bring myself to use the wood pellets. They do seem excellent but the beds look so dirty. I am a fuss pot!

Not quite the same thing but i use another brand of hemp bedding for my ducks and it's really easy to clean out and makes a nice bed, i'd definatly consider it for horses if i stabled.
It's either hemcore or rapport, i can't remember which but they are both from same company...whether the aubiose is different i don't know, it's just what is stocked locally and i was recommended which ever one i have for poultry over the other type (sorry can't be bothered to walk down garden and check which one it is right now)

I used to swear by hemp but after using wood pellets wouldnt change back, but like you hate the dark dirty look so I also buy white woodshavings and use them as topping. The pelllets soakup the urine but the shavings seem to keep the beds fresh.

Brig why are pellets so much better?

They absorb more with less smell and although they compact they are easy to dig out. They are also easy to dispose of, better for compost etc than shavings or straw. I dont like the colour and mine froze last winter but the beds were quite thin then, Ive now built up deeper beds and use the shavings to keep the top looking a bit better. I will pm the supplier as I buy them as cat litter and fuel by the pallet.

I loved Aubiose too but once you've tried the wood pellets you never go back.
I don't care what the bedding looks like ;D but I do need it to be efficient to justify any time I spend on it. The wood was easily the best to use and also it worked out more cost effective over time.

I LOVED my wood pellets...I'd still be using them if I wasn't a poor student (again, lol!) with straw included in my livery. Aquamax was soooooo easy to muck out, didn't smell (even if some of it was in there for months at a time!!) and was just lovely. It was expensive to buy initially, but we bought enough to last a year and it worked out much cheaper than any other bedding at the time . Obviously I mucked out every day, removing both wee and poop, but the reason it lasted so long between top-ups was because I was really fussy (which it's easy to be when the bedding just falls away from the poos on your fork!) and it just kept on lasting and lasting. I think the longest we managed between top-ups was about 10 weeks . Ahhhh I loved that stuff. Can't recommend it enough. I've really missed it recently when I've been mucking out twice a day for the past few months when Faith's been in...straw is just so smelly and HEAVY! And there's just so flippin' much of it!!!
