Did my first ever powercross competition today, Powercross is a bit like jump cross except it is over working hunter style jumps so are a bit more solid i.e. one was a tiger trap with wings on each side. There is also a joker fence at the end 5-10cm bigger than the rest, jump that and you knock 8 faults off, knock it down and you gain 8 faults, so the best score you can get is -8. But it also has an optimum time so the closest to the time with the least faults wins.
I did the 60cm and the 70cm class, both had about 15 horses in. Brave was a bit hesitant going out initially on the 60cm then decided to fly. I turned the wrong way at the end and had to circle to go through the finish line...
BUT WE WON!!!
Huge grins, all round and its our 1st ever win, we have had plent of 2nd places in all dressage and show jumping but I've never won a class until today!!!
Then did the 70cm bang on the optimum time, but I suffered last fence-itus let him get a bit too long and knocked down the joker... oops so finished on a score of 8 faults and was just out of the placings.
Cant complain the sun shone all morning and head a brilliant time so will definitely be back.
