Pete has lost weight, yay! He looks round but not fat. Is presently on a starvation paddock day and night. very little grass. I am going to have to move to another bit of the field soon or risk letting him out on the 5/6 acres with the others. Grass growing so well 'cos of the wet weather. Probably have to muzzle then. Advice please? I had hoped the weather would warm up and the others would get the rest of the field short by now but it's really lush. He will just balloon I guess if hegoes back out. Don't know what to do.

Sorry I dont know the answer but I've got the same problem. Hazel is in a starvation paddock with a fat friend to keep her company. Its costing a fortune to keep them both on hay and so frustrating when theres so much free grass all around but cant see her being able to go out on it all summer if it keeps growing at this rate!

There's no easy answer is there? Mine are still fat on fresh air, although more exercise would help i have to say. Can you make the fat paddock a little bigger...enough to maintain him but not enough so can pig out maybe?
A bit of a pain but even strip graze it by moving it slightly each day or so?

I'm in the same situation more grass than I know what to do with now, I cant even section it off as Brave has houdini tendencies and is often found on the wrong side of the fence with the fence in perfect working order.
So its grumpy pony time and out in a muzzle from now on!

Same problem here with Eddie. I've started letting her on the grass for half a day then back on the bare side the rest of the time with hay and straw mixed. Ridiculous having to hay in June particularly when we have grass for a change!

He is in number two paddock which we made today. Number one is resting! Hope I won't have to build anymore flaming paddocks! At least this way he is restricted not having to wear a muzzle and not needing hay/haylage. I am going to try and ride four to five times a week too. That's the plan! Weight tape says he has lost but he is still lovely and round!

Oh no, your having terrible luck this year...the only saving grace is the weathers so vile your only missing getting soaked at the moment. Do you know how's he done it?
