had a right laugh! Chompy usually closes down at competitions and generally becomes very uncooperative, so I haven't taken him to any shows for about 2 years... but with Brave out of action I decided to give Chompy an outing and taking him to the RC show jumping show. I planned to do the 60cm and 75cm classes with him.
Got to the show to find a note on the gate saying show cancelled, but there were about 10 people there jumping, so found the organisers and the said that they were running the clear round for those that had turned up between 10 and 11. at this point it was 10.45 so I thought as we were here I would quickly tack up and pop around the course even though the jumps were really little (about 50cm)
Chompy thought they were far too small to bother jumping and simply walked through the middle of 2 spreads sending poles and wing stands flying. Lazy so and so refusing was also too much effort and walking through them took the least amount of energy!
More people were arriving and so they decided to run a 60cm competitive class for fun (if that makes sense) Chompy agreed these were worth jumping so trotted around the course, and cantered into some of the spreads for a nice clear round, there were some tricky corners and only 4 horses went clear as one corner to fence caught a lot of people out. The fences went up and whilst Chompy appeared sound asleep in the warm up arena when we were called into the jump off he sailed around the course managing some tight turns (in canter) for a very nice double clear which landed us in second place. So he came home with a blue ribbon. As still more people had arrived they then decided to run the 75cm class, but as Chomps had already jumped 3 rounds (sort of) I decided that we would end it on a good note and go home.
BUT...
he had other ideas and 45 minutes later he finally decided load I think he wanted to stay and play.
PS they were still jumping at 12.45 when I left, so much for clear round between 10 and 11.
