hi all
i need some advice
i am going to a charity horse show in september and i would love to have ago at this class - but im lacking in ideas
i emailed the lady who is hosting this show as it all new to me and this is what she replied back with
traditional means top hat and hunting coat which is effectively evening dress. you don't have to wear a top hat though and you won't be marked down because of it. you can jazz it up with glitzy stocks etc - have a look at the equineck site. they had a really nice blue set on special, couldn't see fred in a blue scrunchie though!
costume means anything really. NOT fancy dress. for instance, I have been told to kit fred up as thingy turpin but I can't go to a fancy dress shop for the outfits they have there, I have to put everything together to look authentic, if you know what I mean. I will send you a picture of a cheap and cheerful outfit that looks stunning.
a theme for your outfit can be thought of by looking at your horse then considering what would he suit. It can be something simple such as the top hat, blue jacket, stock and bun (a must with a top hat), with glitter gel in the manes and tails and even on the quarter marks. for a dun I would think gold or black glitter would look best.
Top hats can be got off ebay for £30 for a wool/felt one. silk ones are considerably more money.
You will not look out of place in the concours at all. Infact the people that do take part in our concours often wished they had a better outfit once they are taking part. However, it is the overall picture that is taken into consideration too, not necessarily the best costume.
im sorry it long..
quite a few go side saddle but looking back at other shows which holds this class - evening performance always wins - not sure why
please help as i dont know where to start
as you all know i have a dun , and ive been thinking evening performance wear but how do i make myself stand out? i want to be blingy if thats allowed
has anyone else done this class before?
any ideas or suggestion are greatly needed - cheers
