Therefore, I think it encompasses much more knowledge than these parameters”. Neira explains that the BNCC brings together learning objectives and aims to be the starting point for city halls, municipal departments and private education systems to think about their proposals. In this way, issues that need to be discussed are highlighted in the document without, however, defining books, authors or teaching material to do so.
He says that it is essential to include in the proposal the need for students to have contact with certain topics, as many are no longer covered due to religious issues or local traditions. Furthermore, it is common for only Mathematics and Portuguese to be taught in the initial years of basic education. The first version of the document was released in September It contains proposals prepared by more than one hundred experts, including pedagogues, university professors and public managers. At the moment, the project is being analyzed again, in order to incorporate the contributions made by teachers, schools and educational institutions, through the BNCC online portal . The second version will be released in May this year and will undergo public hearings for discussion. Only at the end of June will the State Final Document be delivered to the MEC, which must forward it to the National Education Council – the body that will decide the date of its implementation.
