After all the rain of the last week, especially the last couple of days, it was a bit touch and go whether we'd manage to get out but we managed it and went off to the pony clubs pleasure ride at Osberton this morning.
Very Chaotic when we arrived, don't think they expected such a huge turnout and the parking was full with trailer and lorry's littered all over the verges for miles around the main hard standing parking. I had to walk about a mile, after getting out to register, to get back to where my oh parked. Registration was rather chaotic too and the routes very poorly marked!
Pen was a bit excited when she unloaded as people were already on route and riding past but bar when some idiots attempted to trot past her as she was tied up for tacking up (they did stop when i asked them to, to be fair) she was pretty calm, just eyes on stalks.
Setting off was again chaotic, we set off on the route the registration person said would be best for us (the others were more jump orientated) but were instantly met by about 50 riders saying they had been turned around and told they couldn't go that way! The marking of routes was almost non existent so we all vaguely wandered the opposite way and we meandered about a bit avoiding the jumping areas. She was alert but not silly in the group, which i was so pleased about and not fussed when others turned off to go into jumping areas etc.
Eventually we found some markers for one of the routes and along with some others wound up riding the route in reverse...it was the one we originally set out to do! So no idea why we were turned around earlier on.
She was an absolute star, she remained calm and obedient throughout and was a pleasure to be riding. So many jigging and wound up horses around but she didn't seem phased at all and after a while it thinned out anyhow and we were more in our own space. Towards the end a group went past us and set off cantering but she showed no inclination at all to try and follow or even think about being silly. Love this pony!
Will find some pics later!
