I've just joined this morning so thought id introduce myself. As my name says i have too many horses. I started many years ago with 1 a piebald gypsy cob filly called Bramble ;D. I was bought her for my 16th birthday and had lots of fun with her despite her being a bit of a loony. I bred a foal from her when she was young. I put her to a TB and got a beautiful skewbald filly, called Danser, who i have done alsorts with ;D. We have tried a bit of showjumping, dressage, showing and eventing over the years but she is now retired due to injury. I lost my Bramble 4 years ago when she was 22 to colic and twisted gut, it broke my heart as she meant the world to me. Danser is 21, 22 in April, and is in good health apart from the ligament that she damaged, the reason that she is retired, although i do very occasionally take her out for a short hack as she loves being worked but I'm not willing to work her properly and lose her.
When i lost Bramble i starting looking for another gypsy cob, preferably another piebald filly, as i love to have my horses from babies so i can bond with them for their lives and know how they have been handled and have a blank canvas to work with. Anyway somehow i ended up buying a IDxTB grey colt, got that wrong then . He was in a bit of a state when i bought him. He was 17 months old and hadn't been handled much, the handling he had was rough so not the best start for poor boy. He is called Charlie, he is now 5 years old, he will be 6 in May.
2 years ago i bought my daughter a lovely section B pony called Wish. I bought him as a 3 year old but he has a fantastic temprement and has really been a good buy. He has brought her off the lead rein, although she has lost her confidence at the moment but it is nothing that he has done. He is 5 and will be 6 in April.
Last year i finally got my gypsy cob filly. She was 2 when i bought her, she is now 3 and will be 4 in May. Her name is Sky and she is a piebald. I backed in the summer and i have never known a pony as quiet as her. She will hack out on her and in company and is fazed by anything. The first hack i took her on i got on her and decided to see how far i could get to my friends, who was coming to my house to ride with me, and she all the way, not far but a massive achievement for a just backed 3 year old ;D.
So as you can see i have somehow ended up with 4, they somehow creep up on you when you aren't looking. I will add some photos later I need to go sort out the horses now, they should have finished their morning hay by now.
Anyway i joined this forum as it looks like a friendly place to be
