In order for me to get om with my goals for 2012 I have realised I need to have more faith and trust in the Ginger pony.
He doesn't do anything wrong but for some reason I think he is going to, I think it stems from buying him when my confidence was low and he was green and had never done anything on his own...
so in the spirit of trusting him and the fact I was fast running out of daylight I decided to school him bareback in the arena in the dark on Saturday night. It was dusk when we started and 40 minutes later it was pitch black but we were doing all our usual schooling exercises eg walk canter walk transitions, turn about the forehand, counter canter and trot poles I even got to the point where I thought about putting him over a tiny jump bareback but decided it wasn't fair as it was fully dark by then and he would probably trip over the pole so common sense prevailed on that one.
But I loved it and he was perfect - well almost and I didn't fall off!

Wow, that really is a bit confidence boost! Well done you! I know what you mean about 'expecting' bad behaviour. I always fear the worst ......

Well done Fi, thats a big step. I know exactly how you feel because I nver trust AJ although he rarely does anything horrendous but I expect him to. Although Tordi isn't as spooky he can be just as naughty but he doesn't bother me at all. The subconscious mind is a very powerful thing which is difficult over ride Zx
