It's winter, it's dark and cold. How often and for how long is everyone managing to ride?

Not a lot! Weekends only for me now until February. Got out today for an hour or so. Hoping to use the Christmas break to get out a bit. My instructors having a baby tomorrow (planned C-Section not just a very good guess lol) so lessons are on hold for a few weeks too.

Been getting out for short hacks (hour and a half) pretty regularly but no lesson last week. Just too busy. And my old boxer is fading so am spending quite a bit more time with him as well as vet trips ... not to mention Xmas prep!

Very rarely. As I said in your other post Sol, I've not ridden properly for about a year now! We've had the odd pootle about and a few in-hand walks, but lack of saddle, poorly feet, dark nights and just no time to spare is really making doing anything but the basic stable-field/field-stable routine pretty hard. But we'll get there. Faith is having her Thermal Imaging thing done on saturday (back and saddle checked then also looking at feet) so fingers crossed we'll be able to get something organised so we can start getting out and about again in the new year.

depending on weather i try and get out on a thursday friday and saturday and sometimes a weds if i miss yards at college. i am not a fair weather rider by any means i just dont like putting tack on a wet horse and with recent weather and an unrugged beattie that has meant not much riding. however i did take her out in the howling gales and she wasnt even bothered - not even by the waterfall which was fit to burst bless her, i even got a pic of the waterfall and then a pic of her watching it (she is strangely fascinated by the waterfall for some reason) so when i find the laptop charger i shall put them up for you guys

Doing 3 - 4 hours on saturdays and sundays, and the odd couple of hours every other thursday, keep going as much as I can till the really iccy weather comes in - have been a bit wet, but my new sealskinz winter riding gloves are fab.

Up till a fortnight a go I'd been riding 5 or 6 timesd a week, an hour at weekends and 40 mins early during the week. The weather has settled in very bad over the last few days and its now looking like 3-4 times a week. I'm feeling very demotivated at the moment. Which is a problem with two to keep excercised now!

I'm in the enviable position that I have access to a lit (poorly) outdoor school and a smaller indoor so i could ride everyday however ...... i don't! My yard is on the highest point in Sheffield and the weather can be horrendous even when not too bad further down. AJ is spooky in the wind and Tordi hates the indoor 'cos it's a bit too tight for him yet. So despite our facilities I'm generally riding mainly on friday afternoons (leave work at 1pm on Fridays) and Saturday and Sunday. Not ideal but we do OK
