what do you do with your old riding hats.
I have now got a collection of old hats that have been replaced, because the stuffing has gone, its been time for a new one etc.
I can't quite bring myself to put them in the bin, but I know I'll never were them again.
Are you lot ruthless and throw them away or do you like me have 5 of 6 riding hats littering the place.

Um...I can't remember throwing them away but then again I haven't a clue where my old ones are . Actually, that's a fib. One is in a box in the shed with all my other 'stuff' that doesn't seem to fit anywhere else, but other than that one, not a clue!!! (I have a feeling my mum might have been the ruthless one to throw stuff away when I'm not looking...)

I kept my last one as a spare. I hate other people wearing my hat so if I have someone come for a ride (very rarely) they get the old one. Its not broken or had a fall just old now

my last one is hanging up in the carport in a bag, its all mouldy on the inside (from being kept outside after being damp and sweaty) lol! i think this is only my second riding hat since i started back riding - and ive been riding about seven and a half years!

All mine are in the shed along with my old body protectors and various rugs and headcollars. I can't bear to throw them away, some hold fantastic memories for me.

Funnily enough I have just been thinking about this! I have a shelf full of old helmets and suddenly thought: these are never going to be used again! So they are going in the bin! I am one of those sensible people who DOES replace helmets after a certain time and like Haffy, I am a Troxel fan!

Well since I have only been back into riding forabout three years I have three hats too! One is a pink hat bit of an impulse buy, probably will never wear it. My old hat that I love and my new brown one see pics. We should throw old ones really but...

My last hat went straight in the bin, I am ashamed to say it was over 20 years old, it was an early Champion skull cap. The one I have now is starting to look very unpleasant inside and maybe replaced in the next 6 mths or so and that too will end up in the bin! Have seen the same one reasonably priced in our new local saddlery.... (local as in our tiny village - woo too) anyway it is a Charles Owen euro lite and I love it.
