i think willow has a touch of it. He only got something similar once befoore, about three years ago when it was a warm, wet autumn. The rain pools in one point on his back and because he grows such a thick coat it takes ages to dry. then the hair kind of stickd together in little points and it gets dandruffy then falls out! its obviously irritating him. Only a patch of about 50p at the mo. So hard to know what to do though as its SO warm, I cant leave him even in in a lightweight all day because when the sun comes out its too toasty. its easy in winter as he just wears a rug. Is there anything I can put on it? Never had another horse get it and the other pony is fine - just think its the mix of thick hair and dips in his back where it collects...

ahh was about to post hibiscrub, savlon and barrier cream but see you got your answer. Murph gets spots of it on some of his legs a bit this time of year for a few weeks (why who knows?)...it's not mud fever as we don't have any mud and he never (touches wood) to date has had it in winter. It's just about cleared up now but started just as we started to get the slightly autumal weather and heavy dews. Vet likened it to rain scald and told me to use this method when he first had it about two years ago now

if you can get a pot of Flamazine from your vet it works a treat on healing any wet sticky injuries, I think it is also use on people with severe burns hence the name.
I got it when Chompy had severe mud fever and then got some more this year when Brave rubbed his bum sore.
