Which is an understatement if ever there was one...It was bloody freezing out and about today! Several layers (2 jumpers, fleece, coat, jods, chaps and sheet over top) were not nearly enough to keep the cold out and defrosting of humans took quite some time on arrival home! Up the lane...despite being nearly 3.00pm here the puddles were all still frozen and onto the common Just moments later shock horror some dog walkers (who kindly hid for us) cue silly ponies couldn't possibly walk past as the poodles might eat them Literally towed murph past and thought we may as well have a pic as well before I found a handy gate to clamber back on from. Back on board and no more scarey encounters as we crossed common Bit of Trek practise anyone? Good boy today and didn't leg it like last week when I laid on his neck (it's lower than it looks we just fit under with about a mm to spare) Need to move it really as we use this 'shortcut' a lot. Into country park and out again back down towards edge of common and round the perimeter home straight in Murphs sight - cue one happy ponio hurry up! Home Sweet Home Why am I tied up (cos your a naughty fidgit bum who wouldn't stand still) sweetie time Wheres my dinner - wasting away here you know... about time too And an after dinner tinkle so gay.... what are they like

Well it was much warmer today, (a balmy 5 degrees) and far more bearable. Sol thats a good rule...we are only out about 40/50 mins at mo as both mega unfit...it's really just a half hour ride that one but they are so slow...
No road work at all Fi, I'm very lucky. The lane is technically a bridleway (with farm access) and starts just outside the top field gate and leads to common which attaches to the country park/woods. There are bridleway links to Clumber and other places which only involve road crossings (fast A roads usually mind) if you wish to venture further too hence why we have several big ER's hosted here during the season. Notts is really a fab county for Hacking , it'll never be 'home' but it's not a bad place to keep horses!
Flea, they're aerborn nosenets which double up as fantastic snack stoppers!

Your photos are lovely Haffy. Extremely cold here as well. Just couldn't get warm today or yesterday despite layer upon layer and a lot of exercise. (Even wore thick tights under my jodphurs - which is normally a great cold insulator). Your hacking looks fantastic. Can you go for good gallops along those lanes? I remember you once said something about subsiding pathways??
