It was so sunny and warm (17C) today that I just had to go out exploring! I have decided to combine my two favourite pastimes: riding and househunting! In fact, househunting on horseback is not a bad way to find out if a house if horse-friendly or not!
So I headed off to the next hill to scout around a bit. P is very fat and unfit so was sweating up a storm with his semi-winter coat on but it couldn't be helped - it isn't likely to stay this warm, I fear.
Anyway, I took it slowly, lots of up and down hills (no choice LOL!) and got up to Le Castellar looking for a house that I want to visit without an estate agent. This is the view back to my village - you can just see it centre left. I live on the wooded plateau - you can just see the light smudges of houses just below the horizon on the right (but you can't see my house as it is hidden in the forest). If you look closely where 'my' plateau meets the horizon you can see Les Alpilles - the jagged peaks that stand guard over the Camargue.
Anyhoo, had a potter around, then headed for home. Those are the Luberon mountains in the background, what I consider to be 'my' stamping ground. ;D I noticed that the broom is starting to flower and the almond blossom is swelling, although the vineyards are still barren.
I made poor old P climb up the very steep path to the top of our plateau
where I love this relic of our terrible forest fire six years ago (the day I brought Paco home) - it looks like a totem pole to me!
then P had a good ole roll in the mud
and when he was completely filthy
he dived into the hay bale ... quite literally
Quelle bonheur!
