I went on another hack today. I am determined to do a 2 hour before I start work on the 25th. It was just me on Cav and my RI on one of the babies. Baby P was very good most of the way but Cav and I did have to lead a couple of times when she had a baby moment. My RI let me go up the gallop hill first which was great. I haven't had the chance to really let Cav go for it since June now. There was a bit of tape or something halfway across the path at the top of the hill and he did not like it at all. One step forwards then run backward again. Eventually he went past like a fire breathing dragon lol. These snakey things are obviously very dangerous He was a bit spooky walking back along the road but not too bad, more looking at things than leaping about..........until we met the bin wagon. Queue leap forward, run back, mini rears, spin, try to canter down the road, spin and into the verge just missing the barbed wire fence. I have to admit to clutching the reigns and letting out a few eeks We walked on again and I was expecting real problems by the sign so ask that we could wait until the road behid was clear until passing it. Why did I worry about that one? He plodded past like a seaside donkey Bless him, he like to keep me on my toes and prove that I can do things.

Two hour hack with dodgy ankle and spooky horse _hmm - have to nominate you for bravery award there, You abiously and well able for all his shannigans (its an irish word but I am sure you know it). GOod luck for your new job and hope you manage to keep the riding up. Be thinking maybe of ownership - the next step and the fast descent to penury

Isn't it odd that horsies can spook at stuff that seems totally OK to us and then stroll past something else that 'ought' to scare them?
You're making a great recovery gal! All power to you!

Thanks everyone. I just need to learn to anticipate the spook and stop it happening now. Duckles - it was only a one hour. I am aiming for 22 Oct for a 2 hr as a short hack is not enough anymore! I am starting lessons again on Thurs evening too

TBH Kitcat if you anticipate the spook you will make it worse as you will be tense, and like said above, they often dont spook at things we think they should. Just relax and ride the horse forwards whether it spooks or not and youll not go far wrong. Sounds a great hack!
