Sorry for the morbid and slightly random title but in Health and Social Care we are doing a unit on 'investigating disease' and we need to come up with a contagious disease and a non contagious disease to study. It needs to be something that you can go into a lot of detail with.
Any ideas?
Thanks

what about TB? Or something along those lines for contagious-ness!
And non contagious diseases...could be MS? Huntingtons? Asthma?

When you say "investigating disease" are they wanting you to discuss the actual medical investigation to diagnose, a discussion demonstrating that you understand the differences of contagious / non-contagious or investigating the social and epidemiological impications?
For contagious i'd go for something like cholera, salmonella etc especially in light of recent world disasters that put public health at risk from contaminated water and sanitation problems. For non-contagious diseases the neurological ones are interesting but complicated. There are millions to choose from - bowel disease, breast, stomach, skin disorder. I'm a Urolgy specialist so I'm particularly interested in bladder and prostate disease, how about Interstitial cystitis or benign prostatic hypertrophy?
Good luck Zx

Thanks guys! Right this is what they are looking: Health and disease:epidemiology Differences between communicable and non communicable diseases Diagnosis, treatment and support of disease Strategies for prevention of disease We have to compare the diseases too. Mum suggested meningitis which sounds interesting.
