Panorama on vets

Just watched that horrible show. Vets and 'nurses' abusing animals on a horrific scale. The vet's I work for are saints by comparison. Please don't think I am protecting poor behaviour but that stuff was extreme to say the least.

I didn't want to watch it to be honest. We all rely on our vets so much that I didn't want to have the worst practice in the back of my mind every time my cats are in, and with Caliban that is often! I far prefer, perhaps naively, to believe that I am registered with a good vet. I think head and sand come to mind here.

I watched it and what appalled me most of all was that despite the footage they did not once hold up their hands and say yes the staff overreacted or made a mistake.

I do know how footage can be doctored to give a warped impression but still...

I've just been watching on i-player - got as far as the cat not sedated properly and can't watch anymore. It had me in tears to think someone could treat one of mine like that and you'd never know.

It was awful wasn't it! I would also like to think our vets are great too, Jade has spent enough time there in last few years including many all days....the fact that she dives out of car and runs to the surgery door all excited and is always trying top go through into the back (like when you stop in) makes me think she can't have been treated too badly when she's been there.

However don't think medivets profits will be through the roof this next year after that....

I think the majority of vets and nurses do look after our animals correctly.... Medivet is a big chain and in my opinion its the corporate firms that are more profit driven than the small local practices most of us use.

never wathed this and don think i will either. Bess hated the vets and we had to literally carry her in!
