Another new instructor, she was recommended by yard owner. It was fantastic. She watched me ride, gave me some really good tips then rode Pete for about 20mins, he went beautifully. He reall can look amazing. He felt so different when I got back on. Like starting over but in a good way. Managed a few good trot halt trot transitions. I loved it. I think I am addicted to having lessons. She is coming again on Wednesday. ;D

Sounds fab, only one word or warning if your instructor rides your horse all the time then you don't actually learn. Its good for them to ride briefly to help the horse over a specific issue or get a feel for a problem if it is not obvious to look at on the ground but if you pay for an hour and you instructor rides for half of that you are only actually getting half the benefit.

Totally agree with Fi, but I would also be a little concerned if the instructor never got on- a case of "put your money where your mouth is!" Get a balance- sometimes they will help the horse overcome a confusion but as long as you realise its you who needs to make the horse do!
Just a case in point- an acquaintance of mine talked a really good job of instructing and riding until I actually saw her ride. I pointed out one or two things (genuine observations, nothing bitchy). Funny thing was she never got on a horse in front of me again!!! Makes you wonder that doesnt it???

I love lessons too. I'm already having withdrawl symptoms. Luckily YO sent a message via my sister to say I can go and watch any time I want. I wasn't sure if I would be banned until the cast was off.
Sol - it must be great to try out all these different instructors with your own horse.

I have had about one lesson in three years! I really enjoy reading about all your lessons and often get tips from them. I used to love lessons but I have got so out of the habit now, I am really not pushed. Of course I could do with them!!!!
