Anyone know anything about birds? We ahve had a new visitor in garden and can't decide what it is.....observer book of birds is sending us in the direction of some type of thrush? But wondered if anyone could help? On a similiar tract does anyone know what Harry and Murphs visitors are too? We think they may be Mandarin ducks?

Your duckies are certainly mandarins - very lucky as theres not many of them around - they are quite unusual in this country I believe. And your bird friend looks like a mistle thrush to me. I love watching the birds - we have 2 nests in our stables at the moment - a robin and a wag tail - v excited to see the wag tail babies when they come out. Waiting for the swallows too - we get babies every year - so cute to watch.

We have swallows too! Randomly they only come to nest in my stable (and there's about 40 others to choose from!). We had 5 sets of about 5 babies last year, only lost one of them. They're such a sight to see when they all fledge - we went from about 8-10 swallows sitting on the nearby telegraph wire to well over 30! So funny to see

talking of birds - what the hell is the annoying bird called with a clicky tweet - they build right outside my bedroom window and that is all i hear in the summer time, i could shoot them - they drive me nuts. grr.

Thanks guys. We have swallows in the shelter, they come back every year to the same messy little nest.

LOL Brig. I love watching the birds. I have to discourage them from my garden sadly as Princess Jemimah is rather partial to a meal of Robin!! We have an RSPB centre close by which is lovely to ride through. I saw a green woodpecker dead on the road yesterday - such a shame, never seen one alive before.
