I'm looking to apply for a job soon (have already put my name down for a few local places but they arent hiring) as I will be getting off on study leave on 14th may and it will be a long summer ahead. However, I have no experience at all which sucks as they are always looking for people with experience. I have 10 GCSEs - B in English and C in Maths, A and B in double science. Ive seen a few posts for shop assistants and they ask for a CV. I did a CV last year in school but im not sure if it would be professional enough or relevant. Also, you have to put a personal statement on it and they are banging on about that in school atm but not much guidance. So what would i put on it Also im a bit worried about my maths skills as i dont do any sort of counting any more How do you know what computer skills you have? Is it enough just to be able to use a computer but not really know correct procedure for word processing etc. for retail? Any advice greatly appreciated as im very confused and its sort of daunting tbh

Flea, do you want to email me your CV to have a look at? Or I could send you mine if you want. If you don't have much work experience, and who could expect that at your age, you need to big up the things that you can do and what skill sets you have. Also, try to fit it to the job you are applying for, so if it was in an office you would make more of the computer and communication skills that you have.
Let me know if I can help.

I dont have it on my computer as i did it in school but i could type it out (its not long lol!) and email it kitcat. Its probly crap like, so i think im gonna have to make out a new one.
Those jobs i mentioned in the top post apparently arent going any more unforuntately, as i was talking to people in school. It all seems to be managerial jobs and professional jobs for some reason.

Are you old enough to be doing bar work? Or waitressing, with the world cup coming up pubs are going to be busy (well if they have the sports channel ) and they could be doing with the extra staff.

Flea this site has a good example for a scholl leavers CV. You could put any 'work experience' in - have you helped at a yard? Any school clubs? Anything that shows you can stick things out and are willing. www.bbc.co.uk/wales/justthejob/jobs/excv1.shtmlThen take it rond and hand in everywhere. I've just got myself an extra part time job delivering a local magazine - yep I'm gonna be a delivery girl! Need some extra cash for my lessons!
