Ok I am going to confess to how many rugs I have. Bearing in mind I have only had a horse for a year. Nine! I know some of you have less but who will be honest and confess all. Let's see who has the most rugs! The winner gets-nothing just the title of Grand Master Rug purchaser. I hasten to add I can think of at least 3 more rugs I would like. Why is rug buying so addictive?

Oki poki. Savvy has 4 turnouts, 2 stable rugs (she lives out!), 2 travel rugs, 1 cooler, 1 string vest type thing, 1 exercise sheet( do those count?). Bracken and Dainty have four rugs to share between them and the boys aren't rugged cos they're really masculine .

well, have managed to get rid of all ours lol!!
but in total since we got connie we have had: 2 fly rugs, 1 waffle cooler, 2 fleecy rugs, 1 stable rug, 5 turnout rugs (3 for connie, 2 of those for princess, and another 2 for kieran)
Grand total of: 11 lol!
rug buying is addictive imo as the bleeding things never fit right! and also we used to worry about them being cold and wonder should we get a thicker one? and then i wonder do they need a wee rain sheet, that would maybe come in handy etc etc.
However, one rug actually does seem to do the job (not counting fleeces and coolers etc) - if they are stabled 24/7 (or out 24/7) during the winter all you need to do is pop one thick rug on and then leave it off in the stable when the weather improves and then ta-da they seem to be fine going out to the field naked.

Murphy is so poorly looked after as he only has 3. 2 turnout & one travelling rug!!! Although I will be buying a few more in the near future i.e stable rug etc: I don't think I'm going to be winning any title ;D

haha this thread was made for me as I love buying rugs...hope my OH doesn't read it though. Okay my two both have a lightweight T/O Middleweight T/O middleweight combo T/O and heavy weight T/O then Murph has a spare lightweight cos I bought him a new one and a middlewight combo as it was getting past it's best...still perfectly sound but got a couple of repairs on it so replaced , Harry has a spare heavyweight and middlewight with matching neck cos again I bought a new ones. I ahve 2 spare middleweight weatherbeetas that were actually Sunny's, an old weatherbeeta 1000 (so you can see how long some of these have lasted!), Murph has an underquilt combo which hasn't seen the light of day since the first winter down here and hails from when he had to be stabled at night. Murph also has a fleece, 2 summer sheets and a cooler (which he nowshares with harry) and 3 fly rugs. Harry has 2 fly rugs at min...one brand new and one that he wears like a necklace hence the new one Think thats all for now Are we counting exercise sheets? if so i ahve two colin cook thermalux ones too I make that a grand total of 25 (minus the exercise sheets) for 2 nags As an after thought harry has a tatty land combo too, Not tatty enough to throw but I ahve replaced and kept as a just in case...he has a habbit of bursting out of them like the incredible hulk.

I am not too bad - though I am gradually increasing Sancys collection, replacing the old with better new ones. She has - 2 lightweight rainsheets One really old canvas type with a blanket lining (doesn't leak and is snug, just bloomin heavy so it's a real spare spare!) 2 mediumweights, one half neck, the other standard neck 1 heavyweight old weatherbeeta My fave PE heavyweight mobile field sheltr ;D 1 Thermatex (though needs repairing) 1 stable rug 1 summer sheet (never wears it so why ) Oh dear that makes 10! But I have had her 15 years and some of those are nearly as old as she is (in fact I think the canvas and the weatherbeeta were her mums before her) Eddie is the poor relative - she only has two turnouts a- rainsheet and a lightweight fill. Oh and she does now own a nice posh fleece which mummy bought us the other week for the hunter trials - lovely mum You can never have too many in my opinion. Shame they're just soo expensive.

Not sure I can beat Haffy, but since we're being honest... Faith currently has: - 2 LW rainsheets 1 LW T/O (well, I used to have this one...'til some rude person nicked it :angry face:) 1 LW T/O half neck 2 fleeces (1 with neck, 1 without) 1 travel sheet 2 MW stable rugs (1 with neck, 1 without) 2 MW T/Os (1 with neck, 1 without) 1 HW T/O Used to have the following until I gave them away: - 1 old newzealand rug (the ones that needed sucingles!) 2 string sweat rug things 1 LW T/O 1 MW T/O (actually, this one got binned as she ripped it to shreds ) 2 waffle coolers (neither of which ever fitted lol) Not gonna include the quarter sheets (waterproof and mesh hi viz) as they aren't really big enough to count lol. So how many do we make that? I make it 12 at the mo, 19 including the recently departed, and 21 if quarter sheets are included. Jeez, that's a lotta rugs...no wonder I never have any room to move!

I was thinking that I hardly have any but I still do have a very small collection
1 med turnout (and 1 slightly too small one for spare) 1 light turnout rainsheet - hardly ever used 1 fleece 1 exercise sheet and 1 old woollen blanket (not a rug just a blanket) for wicking sweat under fleece
During the spring/summer I don't think I will be using any at all now until the autumn.

I think Haffy and Jack are definately in the lead but honesty is best policy
Chompy 2 HW t/o's 2 MW t/o 2 LW t/o 1 fly rug 2 cotton sheets 1 MW stable rug 1 HW stable rug 1 set of pyjamas (snuggy suit including hood to keep him clean before shows) 3 fleece coolers (one of which I won) 1 exercise sheet
Brave 2 HW t/o's 1 MW t/o 1 LW t/o 1 summer sheet 1 MW stable rug 1 HW stable rug 2 fleece coolers (one of which I won) 2 exercise sheets
Dexter 2 rain sheet (one leaks like a seive) 2 waffle weave coolers (one on last legs so got a replacement) bascially to dry him off if he gets soaked through and cold.
so thats 31 in total for 3 neddies...
I am a rug addict and proud (although winning a couple helps)!
