Yes. Sometimes people can be very hurtful. A group of "friends" all went out on a celebration a few weeks ago. I'm still upset that I wasn't invited.

Is someone jealous that you've been given a lovely lorry, perchance? Seriously, yes, I used to waste a lot of my life trying to make people like me. It made them like me even less! Now I'm ancient I have finally learn to say f*** em. Wish I'd learned that years ago .................

Well, there may not be much choice at work, but you can stop worrying about whether they all like you and just do your job well and spend your free time with those that love you.
I had a horrendous problem with a complete cow at work once and spent far too much time trying to win her over. The more I tried, the more she thought I was weak. Best to be polite, be brilliant at your job and save your 'caring' for those people who care about you! ;D
Life really IS too short to worry. There will always be people who don't like you - it's just the nature of being human. Accept it and move on ;D

I don't much care what people think of me anymore, though, still get that feeling..... As alway's. Not like very many people in this tiny town like me as it is, but... haha... I get, it, but nowI just don't care what anyone thinks. Pony

I am the same, I don't care what people think, I do think it is quite amusing to be extra pleasant to someone who blatantly doesn't like you. Not going out of your way just at those times when you can't avoid them.
Life is too short to worry, as Rac said, save your caring for those who care about you!

i agree Jane - I love to blow kisses and wave to people who are honking their horn and giving the finger at an imagined ( never real!) slight on the road!!
Lets face it I have enough to worry about without giving a toss about what others think- its not my problem and if I had someone jealous of what I had ( unlikelylol) I would just be grateful I had what it was and not care about them I dont think for one second I am important enough to be disliked !!

Only just seen this and it made me smile.
I must have spent all of my childhood, twenties and most of my thirties trying to make people like me. But the biggest lesson I learned was that I cannot dictate what people should think and feel or how they should act, because I suspect that by me thinking they should like me, that is what they are trying to do to me. If someone cannot accept me for what I am then so be it. And funnily enough its so much easier to like yourself once you stop caring about what others want or expect. And I have better friendships now than I ever had!

I agree with Brig. I wish when I was at high school I spent less time worrying/caring what everyone else thought and more actually trying with my school work! Don't really care anymore though, Now I'm no longer in education, I see people through choice now and not cos were all chucked in a class room together!

Our YO says what other people think of us is their business not ours, takes the pressure off. I try not to worry what people think. It is easier as you get old!
