Yea it was a pity as he had a nice side too. But more a Knottenbolt than a D'arcy I'm afraid

I'm so glad to see I'm not alone. Since my last fall, 6 weeks ago, I've been worried that maybe I'll never learn to stay in the saddle. Now I see there is hope for me yet.
I've fallen once, (knock on wood) this year, twice last year and about 5 or 6 times the two previous years. It's always been the spooked jump sideways, drop the shoulder, spin and bolt for home. Hunter will throw some bucking in as well just to spice things up a little.
Again, knock on wood, most of the time I've escaped with just a few bruises. This last one though hurt, a lot. Nothing broken but a lot of soft tissue damage; ankle, knee, hip and back. The problem is any sort of injury puts me into a full blown fibro attack.
Ah well, at least I have a horse to fall off of.

My funniest was dismounting in the school one 5th November. I was just a bit to quick to bring my right leg over and hadn't realised that my foot was still just in the stirrup until I hit the point of no return. I landed flat on my back (giggling madly as you do) beside the horse. I tried to persuade the instructor that I was actually watching the fireworks - she didn't belive me unfortunately

I've lost count of the number of times I've fallen off!! ;D My most funniest was when I first took my boy cross country schooling when We tried a six inch drop into the water and we'd already been through the water several times the other way. Bless him he weren't sure about it but as my friends said he screwed up his eyes and did a huge leap into it, completley unbalanced me and I did a beautiful flying through the air and landed in the water ;D ;D ;D

A couple of times a year usually, i've only fallen off Shearer 3 times (in 3 years) the first time we had a jumping accident and he fell aswell, which dented both my confidence and his.
The second time he reared up and went over backwards, put me in hospital with a few broken ribs but apart from that we were both fine. I'd always said that it was going to happen and it did.
Didn't ride him again for a while mainly because i got Murphy and Shearer went lame but then when i did he was just an idiot the whole time and i had another fall but this time he leapt in the air and then bucked with his head between his legs, i got flung forwards, somersaulted in the air and landed on my back. Went to hospital because there was something wrong with my back and i'd been quite lucky just to pull some of the muscles.
I've had a few falls off Scally, mainly jumping or when he's excited. Haven't fallen off Murphalump yet though lol!

I have enjoyed reading all your falling off stories. I have loads, but one of the funniest was my most recent fall, while hunting. We were in the middle of the forest and came across what appeared to be a shallowish puddle. i was busy talking to my daughter on Lolly and sort of heard people shouting "keep to the left" but I guess it didn't register and before I knew what had happened we disappeared up to Poppys neck in a bog, she fell sideways, I came off and had to struggle to my feet and the water was above my waist, water seemed to be all around and I wasn't sure if i took another step if we'd disappear all together, but I had to try, luckily it didn't get any deeper and we managed to struggle the 20 yards or so out of the bog, only to be greeted by a ditch full of water, so still on foot I tried to cross it, Poppy jumped, pulling me flat on my face in the ditch, i then heard my daughter shout "watch out" I looked round only to see Lolly jumping the ditch inches from me. I eventually managed to get back on my feet, absolutely stinking and soaking wet all over, then really struggled to get back on Poppy, who is normally 16.1hh, but had somehow grown to well over 17.2hh i estimate. Anyway I managed eventually to get on and catch up with the others and finish the hunt 2 hours later, there was lots of "well done" "good sport" and comparisons to the puddle scene in the Vicar of Dibley going on and lots of alcohol given to warm me up. ;D
