I had such a fright today, went to work this morning after my ride as usual. Went into the shop, picked up a log from the heap and there was a snake hissing at me! I was quite lucky I didn;t grab hold of it! I'm not scared of them but I didn't half let out a scream. The customers who'd just left came back in and the ones looking around came to see what was going on. It was about 2 feet long. It scarpered on to a low ledge and was still sat there when I left today. T'was very wierd I saw a snake yesterday one that was about 3ft long and 6 in in circumfrence at the widest point. It was lying on the path I nearly ran over by accident with my bike. I had only ever seen one snake in my whole life till this past month and I've seen 4. I will def be looking where I put my hands more often now... I did get pics of both though ;D

so long as it didn't have diamonds on its back your OK - the one with diamonds is the Adder, otherwise probably a grass snake and non venomous

I Had gone home left it up a corner, hoping it would leave of its own acord. Went in on monday to get another log and it was back in the pile! we think it might have been an adder, Chap managed to get it into a bucket and he managed to release it back into the wild.
T'was wierd Mum had seen the cat carrying something really long (trailing along the floor) into the shop but hadn't been able to seen what it was. So maybe we had her to thank for it!

ohh how exciting! living in australia i see them all the time, most of them are really quiet and friendly and hang down from our roof gutters and we pat them (I only pat the pythons though and remain on guard at all times!!) we love our pythos coz they eat all the mice etc so our house is rodent free! but on rare occasions we get the hissing grumpy ar$e ones too... lol but most of ours are pythons with the occasional tiger or green tree... lucky you did not get bitten!! i guess you'll always be on guard now! love to see the pics you took!!!
