Peter seemed a little unlevel when i rode him on Sunday. It was weird, certainly not lame in walk and keen to have a little canter but trot, not quite right. I hosed his legs when i got back and decided the best thing would be a few days rest. He had a vaccination yesterday anyway so could'nt be ridden. So my question is what to do now, should i lunge him first to see what he is like, or leave him til Friday, my day off and risk going out for a little hack. How long should i rest him if he is still a wonky donkey before the dreaded vet visit?

has he been shod recently or need shoeing, sometimes that can upset them, or he could have tweked something in the field and a couple of days rest be all thats needed, if there is nothing obvious I would take him out for a gentle hack tomorrow, but in the meantime ask the yard staff to keep and eye on him

Yep agree with Fi. I always allow a few days for them to get over it before calling the vet (provided obviously they're not hopping lame)

Yes he was shod on Friday you think they are tripping 'cos they need shoeing then they trip 'cos theyve been shod! Is there any winning with horses? he seems very happy in field. Except for the flies.

he is probably just a little footsore then, if no better tomorrow get the farrier back to re-do the shoe as he may have put it on a little tight.

Rode him last night first time since Sunday, all fine Phew! I know i worry way too much but how do you switch it off? Still wondering whether i should be hosing him after work he def seems to be developing windgalls.

There's not really much you can do about windgalls and they don't usally cause any problems, so I don't think hosing will do much good. As for switching off the worry...
