Poor Peter has yelllow pus-filled eyes this morning. I have cleaned them out and put golden eye drops in can i still ride him? They are a bit red, but he is not squinting. I have turned him out in his fly fringe. Seems happy in himself. Anything else i should do, thought about using wich hazel to clean them too.

Don't ask me why but bathe them in cold tea, works a treat! Old wives tail I assume but it does seem to work.
I should think as long as he's okay in himself he's fine to ride, If mine get a runny eye I would continue as long as everything else is okay. It's proably a combination of the foul weather and flies. Just bathe regulary...steralised water is always handy to have too...and make sure you use different cloths on each eye so as not to cross infect but you'll have done that anyway.

hi Sol -
have to say I wouldn't use the witch hazel round his eyes. Cold tea is one thing you can use but the best thing to wash eyes with is cooled boiled salt water, it doesn't sting and is what eye dr's tell me to use... and it does work.
