I looked at the nu schule [spelling] hanging cheek snaffle but was wondering has anyone tried them? Thanks ;D I have one for stroppy Gem. Had it since before xmas, and its the only bit that i have control when schooling in! She hates normal FL hanging cheeks and goes overbent in it I like my NS hanging cheek, it works well for me and my pony. If youre close to where i am youd be more than welcome to try it, but there are those online shops which allow you to try before you buy. ;D

Just had another thought! My friends Arab goes fantastic without a bridle at all. She does some jaw dropping work with saddle and perrelli headcollar. Makes me most jealous. Mind you competition nerves often get the better of them. They are working on that.
So many bits, so many bad hands and so many fashionista's. Not saying that I always get it right but so many times I have wanted to tell people that they might be better going back to basics. Drops really went out of fashion and I hold my hands up, Fal has a caveson (jointed loose ring sweet iron in her gob) and the highland is in a flash (jointed loose ring hollow mouth). H is going better for the change of noseband but I admit she would prob go as well in a drop as the problem was lower jaw rather than higher. Think I maybe boot saled any drops I had. Bugger.

You are so right about bad hands and fashionistas and as horse people we are as victim to fashion as anyone..............but at least this discussion has made people think a bit (no pun intended) and if thats the main purpose of our opinions then its done its job. brig

I had always prefered a plain snaffle until I got Fern and found out about the nutcracker action, so my fave is now a French link ( Ferns is eggbutt)
my aunts TB had a snaffle and flash for dressage ans schooling, and a kimblewick with chain and flash for hacking, jumping and anything fast paced! (it sounds harsh, but trust me he needs it)
Jaffa has a Fernch link
Peanut, we initially bridle-broke him in a rubber(?) snaffle, like when he was first lunged and walked out. But he literally chewed his way through it so now he is ridden in a snaffle with cheeks, although I am looking for a french link or maybe one of those happy mouths for him as he has a really small mouth and is not strong at all.
