... that I don't suppose exists in the UK!
Here we have some very nasty, large grass seeds called espigaou, which look a bit like a pointed shuttlethingy. The pointy end pieces skin and then it twists round and round until it is deeply embedded or even disappears under the skin or into the tissue. They tend to get into dogs' ears and up their bums and noses. Yeuuuuuw.
But a new variation is that we have been finding them in the horses' mouths - often deeply embedded into their gums or lips. Took several out of Racaille yesterday and even two or three out of Paco - the older horses usually know to stay clear of them. I'm guessing that with the rain we've had, and therefore grass, the horses are so surprised that they chuck themselves at it like there's no tomorrow.
Strange technique to remove them. You have to grab the tongue and pull it out sideways, then the horse will keep its mouth open and you can have a good root around. But the tongues are weirdly lifeless when you hold them tight. Not very pleasant.

Eek just normal grass seeds are bad enough for getting in my cats ears. They sound horrendous.
