scatty you are doing so well!! I know my mothers hubby when he gave up (had heart attack and was told in no uncertain terms what would happen if he didnt) said he could not believe how bad smokers cars and houses smelt!
My father smoked all his life and died of lung cancer and if i had ever been tepted that would have soon stopped me so think how much good you are doing your body!
Savvy - you slipped its not a distaster hun - dont be so hard on yourself petal! just start again.

Don't worry about the odd relapse - I had a sensational one in January when I smoked about 10 in one night. You just pick up again the next day - and boy do you notice the stench! It does get easier.

i used to smoke about 10 day few years ago but then went to college and only really had one in the car as it was about an hours journey so often had one on the was there and way back. OH is a non smoker so that helped me but then again i never really had bad cravings for them. so went down to 2 a day and then nothing! still have the odd moment where i think i want one but i dont. (i smoked menthols which were good as nobody would want thm!)
My dad had a heart attack last year and then quit smoking. He said havin a heart attack is the best way to quit lol as he said everyone that has one soons doesnt want to touch f*gs after! But dont think it is a wise way of quiting lol
well done to everyone that is quiting you can do it!

Well it's day 6 and so far so good. I've even taken my patch off today - I have one in my bag just in case! But so far nothing... Yesterday I barely thought about it, just one or two quick cravings but they soon passed. The only one thing is I do really miss it. Does that make sense? I actually enjoyed smoking and the worst times are like on Sunday when it was really sunny I just missed sitting in the garden with a ciggy. I think Patrick misses it too as frequently on a longer ride I would find a nice grassy patch to get off so he could have a munch and I could have a cig!! But as far as the cravings go I'm still wondering if I'm missing something - just too easy for my liking!!
Babymare you can do it. Go on, get thee some patches and lets all stamp out the habit!
Savs don't dwell on it. My philosophy was that if I get overcome with the urge, sometimes it's better to have one, accept it and don't use it as an excuse to have more, just forget it happened. Sometimes otherwise you can dwell and obcess on it so much you can't think of anything else. I was like that dieting. If the urge got too strong to have say chocolate, I would have it. Otherwise I couldn't think of anything but chocolate!

1 WEEK GONE I even took the patch off on Tuesday and have had very little gum (2 bits a day) Had a hard start this morning - really wanted to have one and almost gave in. But I didn't and the urge has gone again now.

Well its been over two months now and I'm pleased to say I've remained smoke free. Still get the odd craving but not that often - it's worse when it's nice and sunny like this as I do miss sitting in the garden with a cold drink & a ciggie. Also managed to keep most of the weight off. So Yay! Mind you, was a good job as I have come to the conclusion that there is no way I could have afforded to smoke and take on a second horse. So thats a good motivation - its the f*gs or Patrick....hmm now let me see....

Well done scatty! You may miss the odd occasion like sitting the garden having a smoke, but don't you find it really good that you don't have to go out in the cold to have one? Or to sit through a film or a journey or even a long ride and then rushing off to get your "fix"? It makes you feel free, no more being a slave to your cravings. Savs, how are you doing? Have you kept it up too?

I have pretty much kept it up. Was really hard yesterday sat outside work with 5 smokers but i did it . Did give in the other night but that was after saying goodbye (not for long but still) to a really close friend and smoking made the tears go away.

Savs, it's so hard when you have smokers around you, so well done for resisting. It looks like you have coped with the odd slip. Keep it up!
