Today, we hired a local arena instead of having a lesson with Helen. Originally it was supposed to be a lesson in the field but its too soggy and then the arena near her is full of crap apparently for some reason So we just hired an arena.
It was so hot in the indoor we would nearly have been safer going on a hunt for the outdoor which is up the road a wee bit.
Anyway - spent an hour schooling away practicing bits of my dressage test. I think hes just got a bit too much energy at the minute because if the grass - hes more forward going and a bit stronger - also see bucking, running out and taking off, lol!! Anyhow - none of that today - just a bit onward bound in the canter. The first one I went into the half seat to waken him up a bit and after that he was quite pully. Made me tense up cos I was remembering last week in the field. Anyway - had a bit of a trot round and he got a bit bored and slowed down again.
Instead of stopping when things got a bit scary I tried to keep going and practicing the canter and I think it actually helped my confidence because the more I did the more settled he got and I think the security of the arena helped a lot too.
Wasnt too good with the steering - lol - big huge turns - but managed a flying change - accidental of course . I was on the right rein and did a loop back round to the track - wasnt actually sure where I was going - there was quite a few jumps in the way as well that I had to steer round! - and I ended up cantering towards the corner and he just changed all by himself - nice and balanced and smooth and quite steady - thinking forward but not running.
Mum thinks I done really well and I think it helped my confidence a little as well with my aunty being there for support.
Dentist coming tomorrow so will let you know how that goes - hopefully no vets needed! ;D
