Fal has a sore head. Its totally self inflicted. Hopefully she is going to be ok. Had access to the lorry today so i did a bit of practice loading. It went well, she went in twice within ten mins. Then she shot backwards, went up and over and cracked her head, literally. Took two hours for the vet to pick out bits of bone and sew it up. Fingers crossed, she seems quite bright now , if a bit subdued. Silly mare. Think i should invest in a poll guard.

OMG, glad she's okay. Definatly a poll guard next time me thinks....and maybe wrap her up in a spongy body wrap too just in case....
I take it she is a nervous/difficult loader then, even if it was her own fault I hope it dosen't make her more worried about loading in future.

OMG, I hope she recovers speedily - must have been a bit shocking for you too. Hope you are not too wobbly and that loading goes smoothly in the future. big hugs

Poor Fal, a pol guard may be a wise idea next time and a huge mattress at the bottom of the ramp... hope she recovers soon

Update Well i have been told the worst case senario as warbled by the vet! Necrosis of the wound due to foreign bodies ie. dirt, bone. vet colleges and debridement! Ahh Thankfully it seems to be getting better Stringent wound management with hibiscrub to clean off gunk, squeeze wound, wipe off more gunk then liberal dose of iodine with baby oil on last to protect the skin. Finally I see new flesh forming although a few stitches burst and gunk coming out further along. It definitely gives me grounds for a happy outcome. Such a pet to work with, even the vet was amazed on the second visit, that he did not have to sedate her. We just put a towel over her eyes. I suppose she has to have some redeeming features! Just a pain in the bahooky that the weather has been brill and she is out of action. Never mind will get on max at the weekend!
