I know I should be loving this weather... but and its a big one... I am now starting to get paranoid and wanting a bit of rain. This weather is prime grass sickness weather, it has the cold morning getting really warm during the day, the grass is just starting to really grow and I am getting worried!
I am now swinging my preventative measures into play... if they work at all, they are being brought in earlier than usual about 3pm instead of 6pm, being fed a pro-biotic in their tea and I am keeping such a close eye on them it is ridiculous.
Brave didn't all his hay last night (never mind the fact that he had stuffed himself on grass all day in a new section of the field as I rotated them around 3 parts of the field) so this morning I was busy giving him treats to make sure he was interested in food, having a good look at his eyelashes, checking him for muscle tremors and patchy sweating... all of which were OK although he did not produce as many droppings last night as usual... as soon as I turned him out it was nose down in the grass munch munch munch... so he is fine.
Oh the joys of paranoia... but I'm sorry I want some rain!

Zoe - unless you have had case or have had cases near you I wouldn't worry too much as it does seem geographically localised... I did loose a horse 2 years ago to it, hence my paranoia

Funnily enough I was reading an old YH mag yesterday which had an article about it in. What and awful thing to happen and Fi I feel for you. I can totally understand why you are so paranoid as so little seems to be known about this awful illness.

Oh god - another thing to look out for! If its geographically limited then I'll not have a major stress-out about it, but still!! Constant lami-watch as it is but I'll prod my sister and make her keep an eye out for GS symptoms too... Glad to hear Brave is still eating

H&R had an article about it this month, gave a list of contribuating factors. Must have been terrible to loose one to it. I wished it been bit wetter lately, then I wouldn't have hurt myself so much when I fell off! He found just about the hardest bit too put me one, a nice ploughed field would have been better... and a lil rain would make the grass grow so much better.

I've got my wish... its bucketing down and I put them out withour their rain sheets on... bad mummy, but it looked so nice when I turned them out and its too late now!
But the summer coats on all three are coming through really well, if fact you can barely see where Chompy had been clipped although Braves is still very obvious, so I am sure they will be fine...
