Is this the energy weight gain feed? Just seen Brigs comment about it being bread crumbs - a few years ago Sancy lost weight so I gave her something that I could only describe looked like toast crumbs and it was fab, but I've never been able to find it since and I wonder if this is it. Sancy went from looking like a ribby stick (they were living out cos we had no stables and the grazing was awful) to having a good covering within a couple of weeks. And is it really just bread crumbs?

Scatty- Calm and Condition looks like this also so it could be that. Baileys no 1 years ago was just like breadcrumbs and was wheat based but this may have changed over the years, but it was used to put weight on. The other thing now that is fantastic for poor horses is the coconut fibre feed, I think it is Copra or somethin g similar to that- it was used to feed the Tsunami horses as all the traditional feed had gone and the results were miraculous.

Yeah, Connie loved it - it looked like porridge when it was soaked.

Hmm think it must have been the Baileys stuff I used (it was about 8 years or so ago. Patricks on a high energy conditioning feed (can't remember which one but his owner is bringing a bag) - I'm sure she said it's a Spillers one. Never heard of Copra. Will have a scan of the feed store to see what they do. I just remember this Baileys stuff (if thats what it was) being fantastic.

Why dont you just continue with what his owners are feeding? Or is that the plan?

Yep thats what I'm gonna do if I can get it - our feed store doesn't tend to have a huge variety so it's handy to check alternatives just in case. His food is Spillers no. 9 (or was it Baileys??!) Definately No. 9 in a red bag.

I think baileys is the brand that numbers its feed - i think thats senior mix - hang on...nope its a competition mix www.baileyshorsefeeds.co.uk/whatproduct/condition/no9.htm - the senior mix is a red bag too but its no 15 - this was EXCELLENT for Connie, it was the best feed we ever got for her that she continued to eat - we actually just got her a 2nd bag of feed I think and then she died - she only ate about a bag of any feed and then she wouldnt eat it so we had to change the feed every bag.

When Nobbby was diagnosed with copd he lost loads of condition and i tried lots of expensive feeds, after a word with my regular feed store they suggested baileys no 1 it worked wonders and so cheap compared with others recommended I would definately use it again if the need arises.

Scatty it was quite funny when we went back to the shop with an opened bag of feed with one scoop out of it. We goes 'can you take this back?' and he sort of hesitated and we said 'the horse is dead' and he was just like ok..
hehe!
