1) If your hay is a bit dusty can you soak it or do you have to use haylage/find other hay?
2) When do you cut back feed/cut it out for spring/summer? We are feeding horse and pony cubes twice a day, recommended amount.

yeah u can soak hay, but it can lose its goodness if u soak it for a while. But if u just damp it down to get rid of dustyness it should be ok.
Sams owner has already started to cut back on sams food and our grass if particually good in the summer and he ballons parently but im not sure of an exact answer for this one sorry

ok, have just changed back to haylage and hes still getting the same amount of feed - its working out at a round scoop morning and evening. Noticed hes getting a spring feeling - went to catch him today and instead of just walking or trotting away he was having wee bucks and cantering about.
We thought that with regards to starting to strip graze, when we start to mow the lawn would be a good marker - had a look at the garden today and it looks close to cutting time so will have to find the electric fence stuff!
What about his hard feed -well, by cutting back on the feed youre not feeding the recommended amount and therefore not getting all vits and mins - but when the grass is coming through it replaces the hard feed if im right? Im thinking that we will finish off the bag of cubes maybe (we bought a fresh bag on Monday) so thats about 10 days it takes for him to eat a bag of cubes. Do you think we should continue the hard feed at recommended amount for a few bags longer or start cutting back near the end of the current bag?
Have to be thinking of him getting too fat and laminitis so want to make decisions in good time.

if you want to make sure he is still getting all his vits and minerals, you can feed 4x dodson & horell equibites morning and evening as treats.
