Can get a little time off work and was just wondering where I should go for a few days with a friend - maybe take in a few sights & shop until I drop!!! Here are a few of my options ; (1) Glasgow - but have been at least half a dozen times 2) Edinburgh - Think I would like this one but quite expensive to get to (3) London - been a couple of times with OH but can honestly say I could fill my time nicely, maybe a little show etc: Knowing where to stay is difficult, would need it to be central & not too scary (4) Liverpool - been once a few years back, can't really remember if any good tho (5) Dublin - been several times, but it's got so expensive (6) Birmingham - have never been, but the flights aren't too dear. (7) Newcastle - Been a couple of times and really enjoyed it, not sure if it's worth returning to tho when I have so many other city's left to explore or can you think of anywhere else that isn't worth missing?

Danny if you are going for a mid week break why not go for a riding holiday, www.scottishequestrianhotel.com/adult.htmThis place is on the old Lanark racecourse (I went a couple of times before I bought my own horse) and galloping with about 10 other horses around the racecourse well it was better than 'who know what' but lets not tell our men folk that...

Danny if you are going for a mid week break why not go for a riding holiday, www.scottishequestrianhotel.com/adult.htm quote] Oh Fi - this looks and sounds fantastic!!! I'm going to keep this link as I'm definitely going to go there some time soon..... especially when it's better than you know what ;D We have just booked last night to go to Edinburgh, staying just off Princess Street!!!! The girls I'm going with wouldn't be too interested in the horse-riding side anyway - just shopping and having a little tipple

How about Bath? (As in the city, not hot water) Culture, architecture and fab shopping.... Or any European city is great value this time of year. Mbottomille is brilliant if your friend is male but can be a bit gritty for two girls alone! Seville is an all-time favourite of mine, Venice is wooooonderful off-season or check out Strasbourg - the Xmas market will be starting soonish and is extraordinary. Lille is also lovely and Eurostar does cheapies. ooooh i could keep going ..... ;D

Hi Danny - why don't you come here to Wales, very pretty... quad bikes, pony trekks, clay pigeons - I can recommend some lovely hotels, cheap and cheerful or more luxurious country pub/hotel... pm me if you want more details but here's the lovely hotel www.thehandhotel.co.uk/also not far from Chester... there are two trrekking centres here - they are both good - first is where I used to work and will be quiet this time of year, second is more for the experienced rider and does have it's own accomodation www.ponytreks.co.uk/www.atspringhill.co.uk/I know this is more of a relaxing holiday... no shops and only friendly pub nights - not for if you are looking for some wild nightlife.. haha jane
